Rutger en de buitenlanders

2026 · NL · NPO Start

Rutger Castricum investigates the story behind a word that is increasingly central to the social debate. At a time when 'the foreigner' is often designated as the cause of problems in the Netherlands, he speaks to twelve people who came here for various reasons. From refugees and migrant workers to people who have lived here for years and newcomers who are still looking for their place. In candid conversations, Rutger asks critical questions, searches for the man behind the label and shows that reality is often more nuanced than the debate suggests.
